- It is a little bit of a cliche. Still, I’m happy every day that I wake up. I appreciate when my feet hit the floor. I tell myself I have another opportunity to be useful. I can make a difference either for myself. Or for someone else I cross paths with today!
- My children and my partner in life bring me true joy and make me happy. Even on the days that my children drive me crazy and make me want to pull my hair out!
- When I see people being kind to each other, it’s refreshing. There is no phone in sight to record the moment for their Instagram account. Just kindness and empathy.
- Being in nature, from camping with my family or a simple walk through a local park. I love being outside and enjoying the moment.
- I enjoy teaching my children new skills. These range from homework to kicking a football. We also do woodworking projects together which allows me to pass on a very versatile skill set. It makes me happy to see their young minds working to problem solve together.
- There is no order to my list. I’m literally thinking and writing as I go. But number 6 would have to be coffee. That first mouthful on a cold morning, there’s definitely happiness in there somewhere!
- When I have a to-do list for the day or week and I achieve everything that I had set out to do.
- Getting alone time. To read a book, draw or do anything I like to keep me in a positive head space.
- TATTOOS !! I love my ink therapy 😉
- I love to go to garage sales, op-shops, flea markets and find bargains and flip them for profit. A fun and enjoyable side hustle for me.
- Working with clients to achieve their own goals and be a part of their support network makes me happy.
- Catching up with friends and family regularly is great. If we haven’t seen each other for some time, just a quick phone call is wonderful. It’s a great way to have a laugh together.
- Good food and good company go hand in hand. It’s incredibly satisfying to pay your hard-earned money for a meal. It comes out to your table exactly the way you wanted it!
- Volunteering makes me happy. I’m a group leader at my children’s Scouts group. I’m now mentoring 95 youth members and approx 40 adult volunteers. To see them come along in leaps and bounds with their personal journeys is amazing.
- Holidays? Do I need to say anymore on this one? Escape with your loved ones. Explore a new destination. Or visit that regular location that you go to every holidays.
- Over half way now and I’ve hardly had to think long or hard about what makes me happy. So I’m going to say that this in itself is something that makes me happy. A moment of reflection on which I thought was going to be difficult has made me realize many new things.
- Music. No matter the mood, or the feels of the day ahead. Music always has the power to bring me back to a positive mindset.
- Living a giving lifestyle. Something I’ve only taken seriously within the last couple of years. To pay it forward to those in need is truly beautiful. It is anything from helping an elderly lady get her weekly shopping to the car safely, or paying for the guys coffee behind you in the McDonalds drive though at 6:00am. Small gifts of kindness leave you with a full and happy heart!
- Building things with my hands. I’ve built all sorts of things from garden furniture, planter boxes from reclaimed timber. A fish pond, our vegetable gardens, our chicken house and so on. Creating an idea in my head and create a living piece brings me happiness.
- Money? Yes controversial I know. I personally don’t think money is the root of all evil. Sure it can create evil out comes in the world. But for me and my family it brings us happiness by allowing us to do our extra activities together.
- Sobriety. A big one for me. I have been drug free for 16 years & as of now, at 7:40 pm on Sunday the 27/07/2025, I’ve been alcohol free for 1 year and 7 days. That is truly a big accomplishment for me. It controlled my life and relationships for many years. It put my mental health in a very serious and toxic environment. So being able to see myself on this side makes me a very happy and content man.
- Our dogs. No matter what kind of day I’ve had, I know our dogs will be excited to see me. They are always eager when I walk through the front door. They are always happy to see me at the end of the day.
- When my hard work and dedication pay off and I achieve what I set out to do.
- Date nights. Being able to spend time with my partner and do things together outside of being parents.
- A good book makes me happy. One where you get lost in it’s pages and the world around you melts away. My latest read is the let them theory by Mel Robbins. Definitely worth a look if you’re into reading.
- The feeling after leaving the gym and pool after a good session makes me feel happy. Refreshed and recharged ready to tackle the day ahead of me.
- Purchasing that item that I’ve been saving for, for some time. Gives me that sense of achievement and happiness.
- Mine and my family’s health. Yes we’ve all had a few problems along the way but who hasn’t right? All in all we’re healthy and happy.
- Seeing other people happy also makes me happy. Like they say, laughter is the best medicine.
- Last but not least, I’d have to say I’m happy to have reached the end of this list, finally, haha.
Feel free to leave a comment and say hello or even let me know what makes you happy! Have a great week, guys.
