Myself personally. I need structure and routine. I try to be in bed by 10 pm everyday and up at 5 am every morning. Yes even on a Sunday! I have my next days goals on a to do list but not just all the boring stuff. I put simple things down like,
- Read a book
- Have a coffee
- Hug all of my kids and tell them I love them
- Have a healthy breakfast
- Wear my favorite shirt
I found setting myself easy and achievable micro goals for the day helpful. Once I’ve crossed them out from my list, it gives me a sense of completion. This motivates me to tackle the more difficult and boring goals.
I go to the gym and pool as often as I can. This helps me keep my physical activity up. It also helps blow some steam off, keeping both my mind and body healthy. It’s also great for my back injury and makes me feel alot better after a session in the pool.
I also practice mindfulness regularly using a candle at my desk at home. Focusing solely on the flame and relaxing my muscles focusing on each group at a time. When I have intrusive thoughts, I gently bring myself back to the task at hand. I make sure not to beat up on myself. Intrusive thoughts are normal after all. Practicing mindfulness allows me to use it anywhere outside of my home. I focus on absolutely anything in front of me allowing myself to be grounded and calm.
These are a few things that work for me, and obviously they won’t work for everyone. What are some of your own tips and tricks to stay motivated and having a healthy mindset? To avoid those darker moments and create your own better days?
